Ever Happen To You???

So I just had a very traumatic experience. Now to some people this is no big deal (Coby) But to me it was awful...

Here's the story we just bought this van from Coby's grandma last night and I was driving car pool to preschool today and when they got out of the car Denver had forgotten his backpack. So I run home to grab it and when I go to get back in the car it's all locked. Every door with it running in my garage (I'm going to check into the owner's manual to see how to turn that off or something) So I panic because Beck's in the car listening to the Mamma Mia soundtrack and we don't have a spare key! So I call Coby and he has to go to his grandma's and get it to bring home. Meanwhile I play peek a boo (while crying ) until Beck just falls asleep and I wait for Coby. He was only in there 15 minutes but it was a horrible 15 minutes for me, thus the crying picture.

I would have sobbed too. The message you left on my phone was pretty distraught! I think it is pretty funny that he just fell asleep. I don't imagine either of my kids would ever have done that. Sorry for the traumatic experience. :)

you think that is bad when my little Haden was only three weeks old, and Makayla was about 18 months I went to take out the trash, our door knob opened from the inside when it was locked, which I didn't think twice about because I left the door wide open. But while I was gone Makayla shut the door and It was locked! Ya I was locked out and my baby was on the couch. Jason was out of town and I didn't even have my cell phone on me so I went to a neighbor who called the police, who by the way, could do nothing. Luckily my blinds were open so I could watch them and yell to Makayla that everything was still okay, (and don't touch the baby) she was fine for a while then she cried, soon we had a ton of neighbors and the cops outside the window all watching so she put on a show. After over an hour we finally got a hold of my landlord and he came and unlocked the door. Needless to say it is something you only want to do once in a lifetime :)

Yes I have! And mine wasn't a new car, I was just brain dead with a 6 month old!!! I was WAY to ashamed to post about it, I feel your pain!!

It has to happen to everyone sometime. If it makes you feel any better, mine was much worse. I was in our church in the middle of the week making copies in the library for enrichment, when I realized I forgot my phone. Dylan was just a baby and sleeping in his car seat, so I ran out to get it. Well, I forgot the keys to my car (this story makes me sound really stupid, but Dyl was a difficult baby and I don't think I slept for a year.) Anywho, the outside of the church was locked. I started crying, and by the time I got some help and got into the church, we realized the library door and shut and it was locked too! So we had to call someone else to come unlock that. Needless to say, Dyl was sobbing, I was sobbing, and people in the ward never let me live it down. It is a good thing we moved.

I am so sorry for the horrible experience. I think that because I am a mom I can sympathize with you and call it a trauma situation even though our husbands may not think so. I would have been upset and crying too, so don't feel bad that you were...I think as moms we can all sympathize with each others experiences.

I'm not sorry at all. I'm glad you were crying. What a horrible mother!

:) I'm just kidding, that sucks. I'm sure you're a great mother the rest of the time you're not locking your kids in a running car.

hehe

I know how you feel! I have had a similar experience and I agree that it is very traumatic! My husband is like yours though and thought I was making too big a deal out of it. I say until they've been the one in that situation they can't talk! Our car does that same stupid thing where sometimes it just locks on it's own! I did like you and played peek-a-boo and sang songs to him through the window. It took the locksmith forever to get there and then for some reason Acura's have hard locks so he couldn't get it open. Gavin was in the car for like 30 minutes and we were both crying. So sad! At least we know it happens sometimes and we're not alone!

I did it once in my parents car at a gas station and my cell phone was in there too! I was totally freaking out and I had to go use the phone at the gas station where a week before I had run out of gas a block away from the same station and the same lady was working! I'm sure she though i was brilliant! it was pretty traumatic, but like you I just played peek-a-boo with my kids until someone came to rescue me and they didn't seem to care. but my stomach just sank when i realized what I had done.

I would have freaked as well! I am paranoid about that so most of the time I don't shut my door at all.

You are such a good mom! That could happen to any one. You were crying because you care so much about your baby:)

Oh wow, I would panic if that happened to one of the kids! I'm glad it only took Coby 15 minutes. You are a good mom Tangi. If this is the worst, then I won't even tell you my stories! :)

At least you stayed calm. I would have been a wreck. You are lucky you had a way in that didn't cost you $50 for a locksmith.

I locked my niece and nephew in the car when I was 8 months pregnant with Brooklyn. I couldn't stop crying even though Kevin was in a nearby building with a spare key. It happens to the best of us! :)
