New Callings

Well on Sunday I got a new calling as our Nursery B leader and cordinator. We had two leaders there with 16 two year olds, including one with downs syndrome. It was utter choas and I'll admit, I came home and cried to Coby. Most weeks we should have three leaders but the role has 26 kids that could very likely all show up. I've spent the week on a couple websites that have good ideas (theideadoor and sugardoodle) but if anyone has great ideas, songs, activities that their kids just love in nursery please let me know, since I'm going to need all the help I can get.
Coby finally got released from Elders Quorum President and less than a week later got called to Young Mens 2nd Counselor which includes a lot of scouting and camping- anyone that knows Coby knows that's not exactly his personality. So we'll be doing a lot of growing in the next while, any ideas would be great. Thanks!

I don't know if this website will be good for nursery, but I used it in primary. It is sugardoodle.net I loved using it for sharing time.

Tangi, this calling in nursery would be really hard on me if there were 26 BABIES on the roll! Honestly, I'm not sure you'll have time to do anything productive (I know, I'm not very positive and helpful) but honestly 16 kids in one little room is a lot of work. I do know that if anyone can do it, you'll do a GREAT job! Let us know if you find anything that works. I got it! I just thought of something! On the days when the kids are going extra crazy, you could roll in one of the tv's and set up a movie...do you have any of the Book of Mormon stories? I don't know if you are allowed to do this but if you were that would be nice! And as far as Coby's new calling--that's the calling Shane had in Monticello. He doesn't care much for scouts. He just took it one outting at a time, one campout at a time, and got through it the best he could!

By the way, Denver's comment "You scared the crap out of me" sounds like something Coby would say. How cute!!

You will do great as a nursery leader. If you feel like you need more help, keep tellingg the bishop until he gets sick of it and calls more helpers. I know you guys will do great.

Tanji,
Will you be doing singing time or do you have a music leader come in?
I used to be the music leader and do singing time for the nursery kids. I have tons of singing time ideas on a word document I will email to you if you are in need of singing time ideas!
Also..when I was there (4 years ago) we could sing some non primary songs in nursery like eensy weensy spider etc..is that still the case?
Let me know and I will send them to you if they will be helpful!

I wish I could say I was jealous....but my mom is in nursery & I know she has a video that the kids love. I'll ask her & post it to later. You'll do great, but I think it should only be a 6 month MAX calling!!!

Hey Tangi, So i have an idea they have sign language books for primary songs YOu could try that. Nursery is thEE hardest calling. CUs your home all the time with the kids then you have to go to church and babysit and not get any lesson. I had a hard time when i did it. Well, About the comment you left me I would love to do your pictures. THats my nature talent NO schooling for it.. I'm pretty lucky. Well, I better get to bed.
Goodnight
